Homes and property The Manchester renting pledge

Landlords who don't meet the standards

Most of our landlords and agents offer decent accommodation and a fair service to tenants.

We want them to sign up to our renting pledge to show their commitment to good standards.

But a few landlords and agents can't sign the pledge because of the poor quality of their accommodation, low management standards, or because they cause problems for their tenants.

Landlords like this give private renting a bad name, and have a negative effect on the quality of life in local communities.

Taking legal action

We work to tackle bad landlords with organisations like the police, fire service, HM Revenues and Customs, and the Border Agency. We can use our legal powers to make them put things right - by ordering them to make repairs for example.
