Woodlands (Blackley Cemetery)
'The Woodlands' provides an undisturbed place of rest in a setting that is natural woodland overlooking the Pennine Hills; it is a 15-hectare cemetery at Blackley in North Manchester
Our Woodland Burials provide an environmentally friendly and cost effective alternative to traditional funerals at a site that is managed to encourage native wildlife, plants and wild flowers.
The grave location is marked with a small plaque containing a grave number. For seven days after interment, you can place floral tributes on the graves but no other memorials are allowed. If you'd prefer to have a memorial to remember your loved ones, there is a range of products available around the perimeter of the Woodland Burial area, and at other locations within the cemetery grounds.
We are able to offer
- A grave for interments for two people and ashes interments
- A natural, peaceful place and a wildlife habitat in which family and friends can visit and be at peace
- A beautiful woodland setting with scenic views
- A religious or secular burial
- A choice of three chapels within the cemetery grounds, or a graveside service
- Use of an electric vehicle to transport the coffin and mourners to the graveside in the Woodland area
- An opportunity to buy plots in advance, reserved at current prices
- A range of memorial products including
- a sandstone remembrance plaque on a natural stone rock
- bird boxes
- memorial benches
- entries in the Book of Remembrance
