Health and wellbeing Winter Vaccination Campaign

Don’t let Covid and Flu ruin your winter

Winter vaccination campaigns

The NHS winter vaccination campaigns aim to protect those who are most vulnerable. Those likely to get severely ill or die from the Flu or Covid-19 can benefit most.

Even if you experience mild symptoms, Flu or Covid can still make you feel really poorly. It can mean you’ll miss education or work, as well as gatherings with friends and family. Getting vaccinated is the best way to keep you and those around you healthy during the winter.

Flu

The flu vaccine is recommended for people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu.

It's offered on the NHS every year in autumn or early winter.

The NHS flu vaccine is free for people who:

  • are aged 2 and 3 years on 31 August 2024
  • are aged 6 months to 65 years in clinical risk groups
  • are pregnant
  • are 65 years and older
  • live in a care home, are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system

Frontline health and social care workers can also get a flu vaccine through their employer.
