Licences and permissions Appealing against a licensing decision

Making your appeal

An interested party that submitted a relevant representation against an application may appeal the decision of the Licensing Authority to the Magistrates Court, if they think:

  • The licence should not have been granted
  • The licensing authority should have imposed different or additional conditions on the licence
  • A licensable activity should have been excluded from the licence
  • The licensing authority should not have agreed to the named "premises supervisor" (not relevant for club premises certificate)
  • There was a procedural irregularity, and this affected the decision (eg the licensing committee had failed to comply with the hearing regulations)

Appealing against the decision of Manchester City Council should be submitted to the Manchester Magistrates Court.  Please use the HM Courts website and their "Court Finder" for further details.

You can only make an appeal within 21 days of the licensing decision.
