Licence Streets
Some streets in the city centre are known as ‘licence streets’. This means that you can only trade on them if you have a street trading licence.
The green area on the map shows the boundary of the licenced streets in the city centre.
The boundaries of the licenced area are:
- The River Irwell
- Regent Road
- Edgerton Street
- Mancunian Way
- London Road
- Travis Street
- Sheffield Street
- A line drawn between the junction of Baird Street and Sheffield Street, and the junction of Sparkle Street and Chapeltown Street
- Sparkle Street
- Great Ancoats Street
- Redhill Street
- Oldham Road
- Thompson Street
- Rochdale Road
- Gould Street
- Dantzic Street
- Victoria Station to Miles Platting railway line.
The streets listed are licenced streets. The licenced area also covers areas within 30 metres of the listed streets.
Prohibited Streets
Certain parts of Manchester are known as ‘prohibited streets’. This means that no street trading of any kind is allowed.
The following areas have restrictions:
Consent Streets
Any street that isn’t a licenced or prohibited street will be considered for applications for street trading consents.
The map shows all licence streets (inside boundary of black lines) and prohibited streets (covered by red lines).
