Sports, leisure and the Arts Manchester Culture Awards 2022

Nominations are now closed but voting for the Manchester Evening News People's Award opens soon

About the awards

We were delighted by the success of the Manchester Culture Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2021; we knew that the city is alive with creative activity, and the brilliant nominations we received in the first three years of this awards scheme proved that, without a doubt, to be the case.

Now we’re launching the Manchester Culture Awards 2022.

We want to hear about the great events in the last year: the people, projects and shows, large or small, international or local. This is your chance to nominate the people, organisations and groups that you think made a creative buzz in Manchester.

What do we mean by culture?

For these awards, your nominee must be involved in one or more of the following areas:

  • heritage
  • visual art
  • music
  • theatre
  • performance
  • dance
  • film and broadcast media
  • literature
  • digital art
  • photography or
  • craft.

Nominees must be based in the city of Manchester (not Greater Manchester, but the area covered by Manchester City Council) or have a track record of delivering activity for the benefit of the people that live in or visit the city, or that benefits the local economy.

Achievements must have taken place between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022.

The deadline to make a nomination is Sunday 10 July

After judging, the top nominees in each category will be invited to a prestigious dinner and awards ceremony on 24th November, at which the winners will be announced.

Please email if you have any questions about the awards.
