Sports, leisure and the Arts Manchester Culture Awards 2019

This year's winners have now been announced!

We were delighted by the success of the inaugural Manchester Culture Awards in 2018; we knew that the city is alive with creative activity, and the brilliant nominations we received (almost 300!) proved that, absolutely, to be the case.

Now we’re launching the Manchester Culture Awards 2019.

We want to hear about last year's events, people, projects and shows. Large or small, international or local, this is your chance to nominate the people, organisations and groups that you think made a creative buzz in Manchester between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019.

What do we mean by culture?
For these awards, your nominee must be involved in one or more of the following areas:

  • heritage
  • visual art
  • music
  • theatre
  • performance
  • dance
  • film and broadcast media
  • literature
  • digital art
  • photography or
  • craft.

Nominees must be based in the city of Manchester (not Greater Manchester, but the area covered by Manchester City Council) or have a track record of delivering activity for the benefit of the people that live in or visit the city, or that benefits the local economy. Achievements must have taken place between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019.

Nominations closed on Sunday 7 July 2019

After judging, the top nominees in each category will be invited to a prestigious dinner and awards ceremony in November, at which the winners will be announced.

Please email culture@manchester.gov.uk if you have any questions about the awards.
