Roads and transport Road safety - the roles we play

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) role

Please drive carefully and consider the safety of all other road users.

When other methods have failed to improve road safety outside Manchester schools, GMP will consider intervening. Officers might attend a school to offer advice and warnings, but ultimately, if parents park or drive their vehicles dangerously, they will receive fines or a prosecution, points on their licence, and may have to attend a driver re-education course. Check the rules and regulations online.

The key message from GMP to parents is to act responsibly and consider the safety of all road users.

As well as GMP, the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been involved in our campaign, and warn that they now rescue more people from road traffic collisions that from fires. These often involve casualties with life-threatening injuries and loss of life.
