Highlights from Road Safety week 2023
Ringway Primary School Day of Action
MCC Neighbourhood team, the school, GMP and Cllr Weist spoke to drivers to try and understand why they drive on the school run and understand what prevents them actively travelling on the school run. NSL parking also supported the event.
Dr Bike Cycle Maintenance Sessions
Maintenance sessions were held at schools across the city where children could get their bikes inspected and repaired, ready for the winter season.
Park View Primary School
Neighbourhood Officers attended with the student council promoting speed awareness at passing traffic and commending children for walking to school.
Manley Park Primary School Streets
This was just one of many school streets activities held during RSW, and we spoke to Emma from WalkRideGM to discuss what they are, and how they help keep us safe
St Mary’s Primary School
Along with the Dr Bike Sessions, St Mary’s Primary also received Speed Awareness Toolkits, Don’t Park Here signs for everyday use, and children participated in NSL parking patrols.
Road safety matters to everyone every day of the year. The annual Road Safety Week campaign is an important reminder and opportunity to focus on this issue and work with schools, partners and the public to raise awareness and influence positive behaviour change in the way we travel.
Manchester continues to support the campaign and again has gone the extra mile to provide more activities and resources. Our involvement in Road Safety Week campaign 2023 has provided a great opportunity to strengthen working together with our local communities across the city.
We thank everyone involved for supporting and participation in this year’s campaign and we’re already looking forward to next year!
