The fee quoted for verifications carried out in the office laboratory is the fee per instrument or (if fitted with two or more weighing tables or platforms connected to one or more indicating mechanism) the fee per weight table or platform.
A mileage charge of 45p per mile will be applied to verifications carried out outside Manchester City Council boundaries. Time taken to travel to and from the off-site appointment will be charged at the hourly rate.
Non-automatic Weighing Machines – Calibrations
These will be charged at the hourly rate.

Calibrations/Verifications of measures of length will be charged at the hourly rate (with a minimum charge of half hour - £45). This price includes a certificate of test.

Further information
Replacement test certificates will incur a charge of £15.
Multiple items submitted at the same time will be covered by one certificate of test. If separate certificates are required, they will be charged at the rate of £15 each.
Where a calibration or test is not detailed an estimate of the cost of carrying out such work will be given based on an hourly rate of £90.
Equipment must be submitted for calibration in a clean condition. We reserve the right to levy a charge for cleaning based on an hourly rate of £64. Customers will be consulted on any additional charges before any work is carried out.
All charges detailed are exclusive of VAT.
Any equipment not listed specifically will be subject to the hourly charge.
Cancellation of appointments with less than 24 hours notice will incur a charge of £90 (1 hour at officer rate)
Failure to cancel will incur a charge of £180 (2 hours officer rate).
