Parking Permits
All properties within the scheme boundary will be eligible to apply for a permit.
A permit will allow you to park on streets where there are signs with ‘Permit holders only’ displayed. It will also allow you to park for longer than 90 minutes in a marked parking bay that have signs with ‘Permit holders’ displayed.
Please note that a permit does not guarantee a space for a vehicle or mean you can park on double yellow lines, single yellow lines during the hours shown on the yellow signs, or in other signed parking bays such as disabled bays and loading bays.
Visitors staying for up to 90 minutes do not require a permit as they can park in one of the marked bays. You don’t need a permit to park on private land (driveways) or in private carparks, or to park on-street outside the hours of the scheme.
Most of the permits are virtual so you will not get a paper permit for your vehicle. Your registration will be logged on to the system so you will not need to display a permit in your vehicle’s window. If you change your car, you simply need to log in and change your details whilst providing supporting evidence. Only the carer permits, and single use one-day permits are paper.
Most permits will be free of charge. Only the single use (one day) visitor permits, and the business visitor permits will have a cost, but the first issue will be free.
Note for the Ancoats, Miles Platting, and Collyhurst Parking Scheme
This scheme will have two permit zones – one covering parts of Ancoats and New Islington, and the other parts of Miles Platting and Collyhurst. You will be able to apply for a permit for use in the zone where you live/work. Signs on the street will tell you which zone you are in. A permit allows you to park on any street within the area your permit applies. The permit also does not allow you to park in other resident parking schemes such as the neighbouring Eastlands scheme.
