The Council and democracy Core Strategy Examination

Inspector's Report

The Council received the Inspector's Report on the Examination of the Core Strategy on 26th March 2012.  The report recommends main modifications to the Core Strategy to make it sound and capable of adoption and the Inspector concludes that with these modifications made to the plan the Core Strategy satisfies the requirements of section 20 (5) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and is 'sound'.

The Inspector's Report and its appendix setting out the recommended main modifications to the Core Strategy can be downloaded here.  You can also download a version of the Core Strategy which incorporates the modifications.  This is a post-Examination consolidated draft Core Strategy, and has been prepared so that the effect of changes proposed to the Core Strategy through its Examination can be more easily understood.  It is not the final version of the Core Strategy.

The report and appendix can be viewed online at Manchester libraries and there is a hard copy in the Customer Services Centre on the ground floor of the Council offices at One First Street , which is open from 8am to 5pm between Monday and Friday.  Opening times of Manchester libraries are at

It is proposed that the final version of the Core Strategy will be considered by the Full Council on 11th July 2012.
