Ancoats and Miles Platting Permit Parking Scheme
Open a larger version of the map
The permit parking scheme helps residents park near their homes. It stops all‑day parking by commuters and visitors, including people going to the Co‑op Live arena.
The area has two zones:
- Zone 1: Miles Platting
- Zone 2: Ancoats
Both zones run Monday to Sunday, 8am to 9pm.
You must have a permit for your zone.
Past this point streets
Some streets are for permit holders only during the scheme hours.
On these streets:
- Permit holders can park anywhere.
- Some streets also have parking bays (see below).
- Non‑permit holders can park after 9pm and before 8am with no restrictions.
You will see a ‘Past This Point’ sign at the street entrance.
Outside the scheme hours, no permit is needed.

Parking bays
We have added parking bays across both zones.
In these bays:
- Permit holders can park all day.
- Non‑permit holders can park for up to 90 minutes.
- You can park without a permit after 9pm and before 8am.
Each bay has a sign showing the rules.

Where you cannot park
Some areas are always restricted:
- Double yellow lines: no parking at any time.
- White access markings (H‑bars): keep clear of driveways and entrances.
These must stay clear even if they sit inside a parking bay.
Using your permit
Your permit is linked to one vehicle registration number. It cannot be shared.
If you change your vehicle, you must:
- Log in to your permit account.
- Update your vehicle details.
- Upload proof if asked.
You can update visitor permit details online at any time.
We may withdraw permits that are misused. Further action may be taken if needed.
Deliveries and loading
You do not need a permit for loading or unloading for up to 45 minutes, unless another loading restriction is shown.
After loading, the vehicle must move on if it does not have a permit.
