Markets Sunday trading at New Smithfield Market

Regular trading

You can sell products and services at New Smithfield Market every Sunday on a casual basis without needing to become a regular trader. Youu cannot sell food and drink products on a casual basis. The sale of tobacco, nicotine, or anything related to tobacco or nicotine including e-cigs and vapes is prohibited at the Sunday Market & Car Boot, and there are some other things that you cannot sell on any of our markets.  Casual trading spaces are not guaranteed and are allocated on a first come first serve basis.  

If you would prefer to become a regular trader with a permanent trading space on the Sunday Market and Car Boot, including selling any food and drink products, licence agreements are available. The licence period is for 6-months from November to April and May to October. See details of the licence fees which are per space.  The licence fee is payable regardless of whether you stand or not.

How to apply

You must submit an expression of interest to us before you can make an application. If we have space available and think your products are suitable, we will contact you and ask you to make a formal application. If you are selling any food or drink products, including fresh meat, fresh fish, vended food like ice cream or burgers, sweets and snacks, or tinned and packed foods, we may also ask you to attend an interview with us before this.
