Homes and property Outcome of selective licensing consultation 2022

We held a ten week consultation from 5 October to 14 December 2022 to find out what good housing means to local people. This information was used to decide if we need a selective licensing scheme in parts of Cheetham, Levenshulme, Longsight, Moss Side and Whalley Range and Rusholme.

Selective Licensing schemes aim to improve management standards and conditions of private rented housing and support the reduction of antisocial behaviour.

After reviewing comments from landlords and residents during the consultation phase, we have decided to formally designate a selective licensing area within parts of Levenshulme, Longsight, Moss Side and Whalley Range and Rusholme.

Please see links for each area, to view consultation details and links to street and map breakdowns:

Following feedback from consultation in Cheetham, potential schemes in this area will need further investigation and have not been designated as Selective Licensing areas at this time. The Council will review the case for introducing these areas in a future phase, following further public consultation.
