Manchester Carbon Literate City
Manchester Carbon Literate City is bringing together organisations and people who live, work or study here. The aim is to collectively gain Carbon Literate Locality status for the city. It means 15% of people in the city becoming certified as Carbon Literate. That's some 85,000 people. So far, more than 25,000 people have taken part.

The Bee Cup
Will the Bee Cup be winging its way to a café near you? The distinctive black and yellow cup can be returned to any participating café. We’re working with the University of Manchester and In Our Nature to bring it to hot drink retailers across the city. Find out more about The Bee Cup.
Stop using single-use plastics (SUPs)
UK law changed in 2023. More single-use plastic items are now banned. Check you know what they are. In Manchester, we want to go further. To start that journey, we've committed to stop using them in our buildings and services. Find out what we're doing to stop using single-use plastics.
Become a Refill site
Our public buildings are water Refill sites. There are more than 400 places in the city where you can fill a water bottle for free. And there are places to refill hot drinks, food and other products. Grow a community garden
Would your organisation like to create a community garden? It doesn't matter if you're already involved in food growing or want to start. You can get free help to set up a garden.
