Roads and transport Parsonage Road safer streets

Next Steps and Drop-in events

Parsonage Road Safer Streets traffic scheme is now into its fifth month of the trial stage. The scheme was designed to make the area safer for people to walk and cycle and reduce traffic, following concerns about road safety in the area.

Feedback channels have been open throughout the trial and continue to be available to let people tell us what their experience of the scheme is, and what difference it is making to them. Council officers will soon need to decide what the next steps are for the scheme following the trial and an analysis of whether the project goals have been achieved.

A public consultation meeting was held in November, and you can find information shared at the meeting, including a summary of questions and answers, by reading our November 2023 - update

At the meeting, we said we would have more in-person events to let people give us their feedback, their ideas for changes to the current scheme, and any other measures they think would address local issues better.

These events have now been organised:

  • The first of these events took place on 17 January, and was very well attended.
  • Tuesday 30 January 2024, has been extended by an hour, so will run from 4pm to 7pm at Withington Library -

These are not public events like the one in November – they are drop-in events to allow people to call in for a few minutes at any time between the hours shown, to allow individual conversations to take place at once.

We've received a lot of informative feedback so far about the temporary scheme as it is, but we hope that these extra events will allow people to tell us more about their experience of the scheme, and their ideas.

If you have not already done so, you can complete a web survey about the scheme  or email parsonage@manchester.gov.uk
