Parks, leisure and the arts Gore Brook Valley Conservation area

Trees

Trees in Gore Brook Valley help to create the semi-rural character of this conservation area. Many of them are now fully mature and create a woodland environment shaded by a dense canopy of leaves. This is most apparent in the centre part of the area, near Brookfield Church and the graveyard.

The relationship of the buildings to the trees is obviously important when seen from a distance, and there is a presumption that all existing trees will be retained. The trees in Sunny Brow Park are also important visually, and their future management will be a key issue that will need to be addressed.  It will be necessary to replace lost ones in order to maintain the character of the area.

Anyone wishing to fell, prune or uproot a tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order or in a Conservation Area should seek permission first from us before undertaking any work to the tree.
