Parks, leisure and the arts Castlefield Conservation Area

Trees

Historically, Castlefield was essentially an area of industry, transport and warehouses, and trees were of little or no consequence. In recent times, however, the area has switched its attention towards tourism and leisure, and new trees have been planted, especially around the housing development called St John's Gardens.

In general, trees are an inappropriate addition to the area and must be introduced with discretion.

Anyone wishing to fell, prune or uproot a tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order or in a Conservation Area should seek permission first from us before undertaking any work to the tree.
