Births, marriages, deaths and nationality Information for jurors

How long will the hearing last?

Your summons form will have an approximate end date for your service.  This is our best guess, based on what we know in advance about the case.  We cannot predict everything that will happen when the evidence is heard, and the inquest may last slightly shorter or longer than we thought.  You will need to stay until it is finished.

Most service periods are one to two weeks.  This may cover one long inquest or two shorter cases.

For some very complex inquests, we know in advance that they will take several weeks to complete, and we work with jurors during the selection process so that we choose people who can manage this.
