The event is free to attend and will include:

Historical talk from Dr Ros Oates, Reader in History at Manchester Metropolitan University, on experiences of deaf children in early modern England
Performances and speeches from community members
Community groups panel and stalls
Self portraits workshop (optional)

Councillor Joanna Midgley, Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council and Executive Member for Equalities said:

"Disability History Month gives us the chance to reflect and celebrate what has been achieved over the last few decades. It also allows us to look ahead at what we still need to do to recognise, understand and support the needs of disabled people. We will highlight the challenges and continue to work hard to reduce the inequalities that disabled people across Manchester still face. We are proud to support not only our disabled staff but disabled people across the city and value the contribution they make to society as a whole."
