In the coming weeks a section of Princess Road is set to be fully resurfaced.

Following an assessment of the surface’s conditions, the decision has been made to fully repair the carriageway, running from the M60 Junction 5 off slip to the junction of Barlow Moor Road.

This work is being carried out in collaboration with National Highways, and will only take place during the nighttime to ensure the safety of motorists and repair crews.

Work is planned to start on Monday, February 19, and will run until Saturday, February 24. The working hours for the duration of the improvements will be from 21.00hrs to 05.00hrs.

Lane closures will be in place during the works, and we would encourage motorists to plan their journeys ahead of time to minimise any disruption.

As with any infrastructure updates, we would encourage drivers to check TfGM’s website and social channels for traffic updates during the course of the work.

Councillor Tracey Rawlins, Executive Member for Environment and Transport said: “I’m pleased that working with our partners in National Highways we have been able to carry out this improvement work sooner than we had expected.

“As a Council we remain committed to improving our highways network and we are confident this latest scheme of work will have a positive impact for motorists.

“We know this will cause some delays and disruption, but we are grateful for the public’s understanding during the course of works.”
