Publication Stage
Manchester is growing fast. New homes and jobs are being created.
We want this growth to help us become a zero-carbon city by 2038.
To support this, we are updating the Local Plan. The plan will guide how land is used in Manchester for the next 15 years.
The Local Plan covers:
- New homes, including affordable housing
- Shops, jobs and leisure services
- Green spaces and the environment
- Transport and connections.
What’s happening now
We have already carried out earlier consultation stages. You can read about the previous consultations.
We are now asking for your views on the final draft of the Local Plan. This stage is called the Publication stage.
The draft plan has been updated to reflect the comments we received during earlier consultations.
This is the final draft before the plan is sent to an independent inspector for examination.
Consultation dates
You can comment on the Publication Local Plan from:
Monday 17 August 2026 to Monday 28 September 2026.
What can you comment on?
At this stage, comments must relate to whether the plan:
- Meets legal and procedural requirements, or;
- Passes the tests of soundness used by the Planning Inspector.
