Fostering unaccompanied asylum-seeking children
Fostering unaccompanied asylum-seeking children also known as UASC fostering, this type of fostering involves caring for young people who have fled war, famine and other highly traumatic situations. As well as meeting their day-to-day needs, UASC foster carers need to be strong advocates for those in their care. This involves liaising with health, education, the Home Office and organisations that meet young people’s cultural needs.
