Keep up to date with Covid-19 rules and advice
The government have announced new rules in light of the Omicron variant. This means face coverings must now be worn in shops, including indoor markets.
About the market
Almost every Sunday the New Smithfield Wholesale Market hosts a Sunday market and car boot. The outdoor car boot is perfect for traditional car booters selling unwanted household goods on an ad hoc basis. The Sunday Market is a large covered and outdoor space for retail traders to sell their wares - both new and used.
General opening times are Sunday from 7am to 2pm, last customer entry is 1:30pm
Ashton Old Road, Openshaw
Shopper on-site parking is £2 (£1 for Blue Badge holders), payable by card or contactless only.
Interested in becoming a trader?
You don't need to book or apply if you want to trade casually on the market. Just turn up on Sunday and join the queue.
There are some things you cannot sell on our markets.
Casual traders are also not allowed to sell fresh or vended food like ice-cream or burgers, however tinned or packaged food is fine.
Due to essential maintenance some council tax, business rates and benefits forms will not be available this evening. Sorry for any inconvenience.×
