Standards information
- When selling new or used toys, the user and anyone else must be protected against risk of injury and harm to health when they are being used reasonably. A toy is defined as ‘any product or material designed or intended, whether exclusively or not, for use in play by children of less than 14 years of age’. Check all toys before offering them for sale, especially where second-hand, to ensure they are clean, safe and bear a CE Mark.
- Before selling second-hand toys, you must register with the Council as a dealer in second-hand goods. You will not be able to sell second-hand goods where we do not have evidence of your valid registration and evidence of this must be provided to us:
- when completing our application process, and
- when any permission expires, and
- whenever we request it.
