Woodhouse Park

  1. Clean, green and safer neighbourhoods make our city attractive. They help us feel better and safer where we live, work, study and visit.

These are the projects that have been funded by the Clean and Green investment in your neighbourhood so far. The 'completed' projects were finished in 2024 and 2025. The 'in delivery' projects are scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

  2. What's happening

    Completed projects

School road safety – new signs

Road safety signs have been delivered to Newall Green Primary, Baguley Hall Primary and St Peter’s Primary school in September 2024 to improve visibility during pick up and drop off times and alert drivers near school entrances.

Forum area – new CCTV camera

A CCTV camera has been installed outside the Forum in September 2024, as part of their CCTV network, to help deter anti‑social behaviour and support a cleaner, safer public space.

Lifestyle Centre garden – new fencing and picnic tables

Fencing has been replaced and new picnic tables added to improve access and create a more welcoming outdoor garden area in May 2025.

Ministerley Parade – planters and street trees

New planters and street trees have been installed to enhance the appearance of the parade and support a greener streetscape in June 2025.

Bampton Road – passing point upgrades

Passing points have been widened and kerbs and grass reinstated to improve road safety.

    Greenwood Road – kickrail installation

New kickrails and timber kickrails have been installed to protect grass verges.

Woodhouse Park allotments – resurfaced road

The allotment access road has been resurfaced to improve usability and create safer, better access for plot holders.

    Age‑friendly route – 10 new benches

Ten age‑friendly benches have been installed across the ward to support older residents and create a more accessible walking route. Locations include:

    • Portway,
    • Cotefield Road Cycleway,
    • Kirkup Gardens; and
    • Simonsway.

    Sunbank Woods (Sunbank Lane)

A culverted footpath has been reinstated to restore access for walkers and improve resilience during wet weather via the main Sunbank Lane entrance. This will also restore machinery access and enable reinstatement of woodland maintenance and enhancement. A new bench will be added and a former one repair as part of project social value to further improvement accessibility by increasing seating provision.

    Bins

All on-street bins across the ward have been replaced as part of the August 2024 to August 2025 programme, and park bins in disrepair are scheduled for replacement in Culmere Park, Kirkup Gardens and Painswick Park. Find out more about bin installation and the efforts to fight litter.

    Projects in delivery

Cotefield Road – shared path cycleway signs

New signs and markings are going to be installed along the shared path to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Marion Lauder House – parking and safety scheme

A Traffic Regulation Order will be introduced with new single yellow lines and signage to improve access and safety around the building.

    Play area improvements
