Chorlton Park

  1. Clean, green and safer neighbourhoods make our city attractive. They help us feel better and safer where we live, work, study and visit.

    These are the projects that have been funded by the Clean and Green investment in your neighbourhood so far. The 'completed' projects were finished in 2024 and 2025. The 'in delivery' projects are scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

  2. What's happening

    Completed projects

    New litter bins – St Werburgh’s Road and Cricket Grove

    New litter bins have been installed near public transport stops to help keep the area clean.

    Parkway Playing Fields – sports and play improvements

    A new playground and outdoor gym have been installed to support active lifestyles.

    Arrowfield Road – kickrail installation

    Kickrails have been installed to protect grass verges.

    Hough End – site protection works

    Target hardening measures including perimeter boulder, bollards and a height-restricted vehicle gate have been introduced to prevent unauthorised vehicular access and protect the green space.

    Hartington Road / Sandy Lane – double yellow lines

    New double yellow lines have been added at junctions to improve safety in November 2025.

    Princess Road / Barlow Moor Road – yellow box junction

    Yellow box markings have been added to reduce congestion.

    Mauldeth Road / Hardy Lane – bollards and cycle parking

    Bollards and 13 new cycle stands have been installed.

    270 Barlow Moor Road – verge improvements

    Boulders have been introduced, and a tree is planted to protect the verge. Grass verge restoration is planned for Spring 2026.

    Age-friendly benches

    2 benches have bee installed – one near Darley School and one near Lucky Mama’s business to provide a place for rest and support active travel.

    Bins

    All on-street bins across the ward have been replaced as part of the August 2024 to August 2025 programme, and park bins in disrepair have been scheduled for Chorlton Park, and Chorlton Water Park. Find out more about bin installation and the efforts to fight litter.

    Projects in delivery

    Maitland Avenue and Floyd and Burrows Avenues – traffic calming

    Speed humps, double yellow lines and signage are being introduced.

    Play area improvements

    Improvement works are introduced in Chorlton Park, including a new zip wire and nest swing. Find out more about the play area and planned improvements.
