Clean, green and safer neighbourhoods make our city attractive. They help us feel better and safer where we live, work, study and visit.
These are the projects that have been funded by the Clean and Green investment in your neighbourhood so far. The 'completed' projects were finished in 2024 and 2025. The 'in delivery' projects are scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

What's happening
Completed projects
Glenmore Drive – junction safety
Bollards have been installed to prevent parking at the junction and improve visibility.
Crescent Avenue – pedestrian guard rail and bollards
Safety measures including a pedestrian guard rail and bollards have been installed to deter pavement parking and improve safety for pupils outside St Anne’s Primary School.
Crescent Road – new litter bins
Two new litter bins have been installed to help keep the area clean.
Crescent Road / Greenhill Road (Moss Bank) – H‑bars
H‑bars have been installed to discourage parking across residents’ driveways.
Hallworth Road area – bollards
Bollards have been installed across various passageways to prevent illicit parking and protect pedestrian routes.
Abraham Moss Metrolink to Greenstead Avenue / Woodlands Road – pathway upgrade
The path has been resurfaced and fitted with a chicane gate to improve accessibility and passenger safety.
Smedley Road – kickrail replacement
A broken kickrail fence has been replaced to stop verge parking and protect green space.
Age-friendly benches
Age‑friendly benches have been installed along a designated walking route to provide more opportunities for rest and support inclusive active travel. Locations include Eastern By-Pass, Linfield Street and Ashton Old Road.
Bins
All on-street bins across the ward have been replaced as part of the August 2024 to August 2025 programme, and park bins in disrepair have been scheduled for Crumpsall Park. Find out more about bin installation and the efforts to fight litter.
Projects in delivery
Bury Old Road / Eaton Road – perimeter safety
Multiple bollards will be installed around the perimeter of King David High School to improve pedestrian safety.
Crumpsall Park – railings repainting
Perimeter railings will be repainted to create a cleaner, more welcoming park.
Ansleigh Avenue / Crumpsall Lane and Hermitage Road– double yellow lines
New double yellow lines will be installed to prevent junction parking and improve visibility.
Bury Old Road – public realm upgrades
Tree pits will be repaired and cycle racks reset, replaced and installed, alongside targeted bollards, to enhance the district centre.
Chataway Road / Crescent Road – traffic management scheme
A Traffic Regulation Order will introduce double yellow lines, increased ‘No Waiting’ restrictions and a new one‑way system to improve safety and traffic flow.
Hermitage Road – bollards
New bollards are being installed to deter pavement parking.
Hermitage Road / Crumpsall Lane – double yellow lines
Double yellow lines will be introduced to improve junction safety.
Lansdowne Road – local centre improvements
Bollards will be replaced and refurbished, railings repainted and footpaths repaired to enhance the district centre.
Play area improvements
Improvement works were introduced in Crumpsall Park and are also scheduled for Herristone Parkin 2026. Find out more about the on play area and planned improvements.
