  1. Clean, green and safer neighbourhoods make our city attractive. They help us feel better and safer where we live, work, study and visit.

    These are the projects that have been funded by the Clean and Green investment in your neighbourhood so far. The 'completed' projects were finished in 2024 and 2025. The 'in delivery' projects are scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

    Completed projects

    42 Ferndown Road – bee bollards

    Three static ‘Bee’ bollards have been installed at 42 Ferndown Road to prevent inappropriate vehicle access and improve pedestrian safety in August 2024.

    Nan Nook Estate – double yellow lines and traffic regulation order

    Double yellow lines have been installed at key junctions across the Nan Nook Estate, supported by a Traffic Regulation Order, to improve road safety.

    Gosforth Drive / Pengham Drive – kickrails and bollard replacement

    New kickrails have been installed and an existing bollard replaced at Gosforth Drive and Pengham Drive to protect green spaces and improve safety.

    Wendover Road – wooden kickrail

    A wooden kickrail has been installed at 53 Wendover Road and 15 Wendover Road between June and September 2025 to deter verge parking and protect the grassed area.

    Age‑Friendly Bench Network

    Seven age‑friendly benches were installed in Winter 2025 along a designated walking route following Wythenshawe Road and Moor Road to provide more opportunities for rest and support inclusive active travel.

    Yew Tree Lane – kickrail and bee bollards

    Steel kickrail and 28 ‘Bee’ bollards were installed in January 2026 along Yew Tree Lane, to improve safety and protect roadside verges.

    Bins

    All on-street bins across the ward have been replaced as part of the August 2024 to August 2025 programme, and park bins in disrepair have been replaced in Wythenshawe Park. Find out more about bin installation and the efforts to fight litter.

    Wythenshawe Park


    Wythenshawe Gateway (Bideford Lane) – new entrance and footpaths

    A new gateway entrance and upgraded footpaths have been created at Bideford Lane in Spring 2024, improving access and enhancing the arrival experience into Wythenshawe Park.

    Wythenshawe Park – boundary fencing

    In January 2025, Security fencing was installed along sections of Wythenshawe Park’s boundary to protect the parks edges from damage, help prevent antisocial behaviour and protect park users.

    Wythenshawe Road – Parkway Entrance Path

    A new accessible path and cycle route have been created in June 2025 at the Wythenshawe Road Parkway entrance, improving connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.

    Wythenshawe Park – multiple locations

    • A series of improvement works have been completed across Wythenshawe Park, including:
    • pothole repairs along the main drive
    • pathway resurfacing near the National Cycle Route & circus grounds
    • installation of a new hard‑standing pad for the ice‑cream van
    • resurfacing sections of well‑used pedestrian path near the tennis court.

    Projects in delivery

    Moor Road (M23) – verge reconstruction

    Full construction works are being scheduled to rebuild approximately 70 metres of verge along Moor Road, improving its durability, appearance and safety

    Play area improvements

    Improvement works will be delivered in Chesterton Road Park, Southwick Park, and at Wythenshawe Park as a contribution to wider play area redesign. Find out more about the play area and planned improvements.
