  1. Clean, green and safer neighbourhoods make our city attractive. They help us feel better and safer where we live, work, study and visit.

    These are the projects that have been funded by the Clean and Green investment in your neighbourhood so far. The 'completed' projects were finished in 2024 and 2025. The 'in delivery' projects are scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

    Completed projects

    Greek Street – parking deterrents (bollards)

    New bollards have been installed on Greek Street to deter inappropriate parking and improve pedestrian safety.

    Kincardin Road roundabout – refreshed road markings

    Existing lane and exit line markings at the Kincardin Road roundabout have been renewed to improve visibility and support safer traffic movement.

    Lauderdale Crescent – knee rail replacement and new bollards

    The knee rail on Lauderdale Crescent has been replaced, alongside the installation of new bollards to help protect green spaces and improve safety for pedestrians.

    Bennett Street – community space improvements

    Fencing has been removed and the community space resurfaced at Bennett Street to create a more open, accessible and welcoming area for local residents.

    Swinton Grove – shelter removal and bench replacement

    An outdated shelter has been removed at Swinton Grove and replaced with new seating to improve the appearance and comfort of the space.

    Gartside Gardens – tennis court improvements

    Works at Gartside Gardens include the installation of a new gate, repainting and a full cleanse of the tennis courts to improve access, safety and appearance.

    Play area improvements

    Improvement works have been completed in Ardwick Green Park. Find out more about the play area and planned improvements.

    Bins

    All on-street bins across the ward have been replaced as part of the August 2024 to August 2025 programme, and park bins in disrepair have been replaced in Whitworth Park. Find out more about bin installation and the efforts to fight litter.

    Projects in delivery

    Ardwick Green – traffic management project

    A traffic management scheme will be delivered at Ardwick Green, including a Traffic Regulation Order and the installation of double yellow lines to improve safety and traffic flow.

    Armitage Primary School – road safety interventions

    Road safety improvements are planned for Armitage Primary School, including the installation of bollards to help protect pedestrians and reduce vehicle risk near the school.

    Coral Street – traffic management project

    A traffic management scheme will be delivered on Coral Street, involving a Traffic Regulation Order and new double yellow lines to improve parking control and road safety.

    Coverdale Crescent – road safety improvements near St Luke’s Primary School

    A package of road safety measures will be delivered on Coverdale Crescent, including a Traffic Regulation Order with double yellow lines, new bollards and refreshed road markings to improve safety around St Luke’s Primary School.

    East Grove Community Space – resurfacing works

    Clearance and resurfacing works will be delivered in 2026 at East Grove Community Space to improve usability and create a more attractive local amenity.

    Haverford Road Community Space – resurfacing works

    Clearance, replanting and resurfacing (including additional new low-maintenance surfaces) works will be delivered to the Haverford Road Community Space, to improve usability and create a more attractive local amenity.
