Free school meals and free school travel

In Manchester nearly one third of school-age children get free school meals. This would be even higher if all families who could get this support claimed it.

Help us to help you and your children by claiming free school meals if you think you may be eligible.  A couple of minutes of your time now could help keep your child happy and healthy and save you £100's every year.

Check to see if you can get free school meals or free school travel for your child.

Did you know that if your child gets free school meals, the school gets extra money for your child’s education? That's £1,320 for each child in primary school and £935 for each child in secondary school. It's called Pupil Premium. Schools can use the money for school trips, extra teaching staff and activities.

There's help too, for some young people that have just left secondary school

Please make sure your children are healthy and ready to learn for the new school term by checking all their vaccinations are up to date (including Measles and Whooping Cough) with your GP.

You can find out more information about vaccinations and when to have them on the NHS website.

It is also important to make sure your child is registered with a GP so they can receive any medical attention they may need.
