Benefits and support How you receive Council Tax Support if you are entitled to it

Council Tax Support is a reduction in your bill based on your income, your savings, other people who live with you and the amount of your weekly council tax.

It reduces your council tax bill in the same way other discounts (like Single Person Discount) reduce your bill. 

Your bill will show the amount of Council Tax Support that has been taken off for the whole financial year. We will adjust the amount when you tell us about any changes in your circumstances and send you a new bill.

If you get Second Adult Rebate or Student Second Adult Rebate instead of Council Tax Support, we will pay it straight into your Council Tax account. They are also shown as an amount taken off your bill.
