Consultations and surveys Eastlands Residents Parking Traffic Regulation Order consultation

This consultation has now closed.  Please visit the Eastland's Resident's Parking Scheme TRO update consultation, to have your say.

In March and April 2022, we asked people what they thought about proposals to extend the existing parking scheme near the Etihad Stadium to operate every day, from 12 noon to 11pm, and include more of the surrounding streets.

This scheme is designed to help residents park close to their home, improve traffic flow, road safety and the appearance of streets affected by high levels of non-residential on-street parking.

The expansion is in preparation for the opening of the Co-op Live Arena in 2023, which promises to bring significant jobs and investment to the area, as well as more world-class sporting, music and charity events.

It means that:

  • restrictions will apply 7 days a week, not just on ‘match days’
  • nearly 3,000 more residents will be included in the scheme.

The restrictions are designed to stop people attending events from parking on street near the Arena, which makes access to local homes and businesses difficult.

More than 250 people took part in this consultation, telling us things that they did and didn’t like about it. As a result we have made some changes – making permits more flexible, so that more people can use them, and further improvements to the permit application system.

Changes have been made as a result of this feedback, and we also have a new parking policy which will bring improvements across all of our schemes.

The project is now moving forward, and we are at the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) stage, which is a legal process where people can formally comment, and we will consider any objections.
