Licences and permissions Traffic Regulation Orders

A traffic regulation order (TRO) allows us to regulate the speed, movement and parking of vehicles.  A TRO can be used to establish bus lanes, loading bays, double/single yellow lines, no entry, one way traffic, pay and display parking, resident parking, school entrance markings and speed limits.

Temporary Traffic Regulation Order

A temporary traffic regulation order (TTRO) is for temporary restrictions such as a road closure, suspension of a one way street or parking to allow road works or ensure safety at a sporting or social event.

  • The minimum charge for road closures for an event is £159 - when we have approved your application, payment is required.
  • The minimum cost for road closures for works will be £2,265, however the final cost will be confirmed by email once the TTRO is approved by the Highway Officer.

There is a different process if you are applying to close a road for an event like a street party or works like building or road works, please select the correct form.

If you have any problems or questions relating to either application you can contact us at highwaynetworkmanagement@manchester.gov.uk
