Environmental problems Air quality

Planning and development

National planning policy means that new developments should not create or be adversely affected by unacceptable levels of air pollution. This is particularly important if:

  • the development is proposed inside or adjacent to an area with a current action plan
  • the development could result in the need for an action plan
  • the granting of planning permission would conflict with an existing action plan.

We work with developers to make sure this guidance is met.
