Following the vote in the House of Commons on Tuesday 29 October to hold a General Election, the date has been set for Thursday 12 December. The full list of candidates has now been published.
You are eligible to vote if you are British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen and registered to vote. The deadline to register is Tuesday 26 November, and you can do so, if you are not already registered, by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You can check if you are registered to vote by calling 0161 234 1212.
To apply for a postal vote, please download an application form.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 26 November 2019.
The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm Wednesday 4 December 2019. However, if you proxy wishes to vote by post on your behalf, the deadline is 5pm Tuesday 26 November 2019.

There are also elections to take place on Thursday 7 May 2020. Electors who are registered to vote will have the opportunity to vote in local government elections and along with the rest of Greater Manchester in the Greater Manchester Mayoral Election.
