Roads and transport Scheme Activation events

What is it?

With support from the Mayor’s Challenge fund, we're delivering several walking and cycle schemes across the city.

The Mayor’s Challenge fund requires schemes to have an activation plan to encourage and enable residents to use the new cycling and walking provisions, and to offer practical support to help remove potential barriers. The main aim is to encourage people that haven't walked or cycled before, and change people's views about considering other methods of sustainable transport.

This will be achieved by using funds granted in this scheme to put different activities across Manchester's wards, encouraging active travel in the new or improved walking and cycling facilities.

How funds are being used

The Bee Network was unveiled in 2018 by Cycling and Walking Commissioner Chris Boardman as a 10-year, £1.5 billion plan to create 1,800 miles of routes and 2,400 new crossings connecting every neighbourhood, school, high street and public transport hub in the city-region.

See what the Bee Network connects you to at the TFGM website or check out the local events and activities.

How to get involved

You can get involved by taking part in any of the activities, or apply to put on your own event with the support of the Mayor’s Challenge fund.
