August 2025 Update - Works Completion
The improvement work on the Yellow Brick Road, which connects to the Fallowfield Loop and the Ashton canal, is now complete.
The work consisted of:
-
Resurfacing from just south of the Alston Road entrance, to the entrance at Ashton Canal, and
-
Improving twenty-five access points to a new style. This style allows better access for people with prams, wheelchairs, adaptive bikes, and cargo bikes.
The route is now more appealing and pleasing to use. This is due to wider pathways with new surfaces, as well as better entranceways, lighting, signage, and planting.
The work has improved links for Chorlton and Debdale Park via the Fallowfield Loop. It has also improved access to the Ashton Canal, Sport City, and Philips Park.
These improvements, alongside the improvements that have been completed on the Fallowfield Loop, have made the Yellow Brick Road a feature section of a green corridor. It forms part of a wider nature network that connects green spaces from the Mersey Valley, across south Manchester via Fallowfield, Levenshulme, Gorton and Openshaw, to the Ashton Canal and Medlock Valley beyond.
