Homes and property Outcome of selective licensing consultation 2021

Outcome of Selective Licensing consultation

We held a ten week consultation from 21 June to 29 August 2021 to find out what good housing means to local people. This information was used to decide if we need a selective licensing scheme in parts of Clayton and Openshaw, Harpurhey, and Gorton and Abbey Hey.

Selective Licensing schemes aim to improve management standards and conditions of private rented housing and support the reduction of antisocial behaviour.

After reviewing comments from landlords and residents during the consultation phase, we have decided to formally designate a selective licensing area within parts of Clayton and Openshaw, Harpurhey, Gorton and Abbey Hey. This means all if you are a landlord in the area, you have up to 1 May 2022 to apply for a licence.
