Trees help to make Manchester attractive and liveable. They provide shelter, reduce flooding and help to lower air and noise pollution. Our arboriculture team looks after trees across the city – along highways and in parks, woodland and open spaces.
Tree inspections
We inspect trees to ensure they’re growing well. We check trees on highways and in parks every two years. And trees in designated woodland every four years. If a tree has a high-risk defect, we add it to our schedule of work. The length of time from an inspection to work taking place varies. It depends on the level of risk it's thought to present.
We make regular checks of trees with medium and low-risk defects. They're added to our work schedule when they become high-risk. Or if we've completed all high-risk work. Find out more about our approach to tree management.
