Most of us want to live independently in our own homes. But many people need some help and support.
It might be because they're young and at risk, or an older person who needs help at hand. Or they may have a physical, sensory or learning disability. They could be homeless, at risk of domestic violence or have a drug or alcohol dependency.

What type of housing support?
Housing support comes in a variety of packages: from very basic help and guidance, to more regular hands-on support.- If you're looking to live independently in your own home, check out the city council's housing support service.
- Or find out about all the other support packages by provided by different organisations across Manchester. The city council co-ordinates support by private companies, voluntary organisations, the NHS, home improvement agencies, not-for-profit landlords and charities. It's called the 'Supporting People' programme.
- Or if you're over 60, see if there are any retirement housing options for you (or 'sheltered' housing as it used to be called).
