Get help with travel costs to a new job

If you cannot afford to travel to start a new job, you may be able to get help to cover the cost. You must have been unemployed for six months before you apply.

What this covers

Travel to a new job for the first four weeks.

What you’ll get

If your application is successful, you will get a short-term payment.

We may provide:

  • a voucher
  • a bank payment.

Important to know

You will usually need:

  • a confirmed job offer or start date;
  • no way to pay travel costs  to get to work before your first pay.

This is short-term support only. It is not for ongoing travel costs

What happens after you apply?

We will tell you the outcome as soon as possible. We may contact you for more information.
