Get money for food and essential costs

If you’ve had a sudden loss of income or an unexpected cost, you may be able to get a cash grant.

A cash grant is a short-term payment to help in an emergency.

What this covers

  • food
  • other essentials.

What you’ll get

If your application is successful, you may receive:

  • a bank payment
  • a voucher.

The amount depends on your situation.

Important to know

  • This is short-term help only. It is not ongoing support.
  • You must have no other way to meet these costs.
  • We will look at your circumstances and support needs before making a decision.
