you are usually classed as a full-time student if you:
- are aged 18 or over and studying at a college, university or a similar institution
- are on a course that lasts at least 24 weeks of the year
- study for at least 21 hours a week
- are on a course that your college or university considers to be full-time.
Other people who may be classed as full-time students
You may also be classed as a full-time student if you:
- are aged 18 or 19; and
- studying A-levels; or
- another non-advanced course that lasts at least three months and involves at least 12 hours of study a week.
Additional requirements
To qualify, you must:
- live in the UK
- study with a college or university in the UK or European Union.
You do not need to attend classes in person. Distance learning students may qualify if they meet the other criteria.
