People and communities Ward climate action

Children and young people

We want to help young people to take climate change action. Whether it's gaining Eco-School status, leading climate assemblies or holding a litter pick.

In Manchester, more than half of our residents are 34-years-old or younger. We're a 'young city'. And we're working to become a UNICEF Child Friendly City.

Did you know our city has a Climate Change Youth Partnership? It gives young people from – 16 to 28 years old – a voice. They create and lead projects and make sure young people's voices are heard. They also help young people to find out about training, skills, jobs and events. Find out more about the youth partnership and network.

Our aims:

  • To help schools, youth centres, youth councils and youth groups to act on climate change in their communities
  • To work with partner organisations to help young people lead climate change projects
