Consultations and surveys Eastlands Residents Parking Scheme consultation

This consultation has now closed and proposals have changed in line with the new city wide parking policy. See the updated plans

Co-op Live opens in 2023, and promises to bring significant jobs and investment to the area, as well as more world-class sporting, music and charity events.

In the consultation around the arena, residents told us that they were concerned that it could also increase parking pressures which would negatively impact on their day-to-day lives. Most streets around the Etihad Campus currently have restrictions on parking during match days and on other event days, but we want to ensure that residents are able to park close to their homes and the many businesses in the area can still be visited, so we are proposing to extend the current resident parking scheme.

As well as measures to improve public transport and walking and cycling routes to Co-op Live and the Etihad Campus generally, it is proposed that the current Residents Parking Scheme is amended in order to:

  •  Expand the area that the existing Etihad Resident Parking Scheme covers so that it includes some areas which are currently not included in the existing Scheme, but are within walking distance of the Etihad Campus – and renaming it the Eastlands Resident Parking Scheme (RPS).
  •  Change the scheme so that it operates every day, rather than on event days only. Residents living within the RPS currently need to be aware of when events are taking place to understand when parking restrictions will apply. In the future it will be much easier to understand, with the Scheme being operational each and every day.

We are now sharing these proposals for an expanded RPS with local people as part of a consultation process ahead of finalising these plans. We are consulting on the Eastlands RPS to ensure that it operates as efficiently as possible and in a way that benefits local residents and businesses.
