Crime, antisocial behaviour and nuisance Prevent

Prevent in Manchester

Manchester has been a part of the Prevent programme since 2008. We work with the Community Safety Partnership to help keep our city safe.

Together we can:

  • Understand the risks of terrorism and how we respond to it in Manchester.
  • Protect people who may be at risk of radicalisation.
  • Train staff and support local services and make it part of our work.
  • Work with local groups through the RADEQUAL Network to stop hate and divide in the community.
  • Help communities talk about difficult topics in a safe way.
  • Support local ideas that bring people together and create positive change.

Prevent is about acting early. We want to:

  • Give staff the skills and confidence to work with communities about the topic.
  • Listen to people’s concerns and understand what might lead someone to extremism.
  • Build trust so we can support those most at risk.
