To meet the requirements of pre-notification you should send an e-mail of part one of the CHED-P, CHED-D or similar document before the product lands in the UK to envh.airport@manchester.gov.uk. Certain commodities have a specified pre-notification time, for example, one working day before arrival for pre-notification of products of animal origin and two working days before arrival for pre-notification of plastic kitchenware from China and Hong Kong.
Once the products are ready for inspection and all the documentation is ready you should telephone the office on 0161 498 8747.
It is vital that all notifications of the actual arrival of consignments are made through this telephone number. It is your responsibility to ensure that the product is separated out from products not requiring inspection and presented in such a way that an inspection and / or sampling can be carried out.
The contact centre telephone number 0161 234 5004 to be used for any routine enquiries or requests for information. The out of hour’s number 07887916848 can be used out of normal office hours to notify of any consignments arriving out of office hours only. Please note this phone may not be monitored or calls answered during normal office hours so please do not use it or leave messages on this number during office hours.
Some agents or importers have officers mobile numbers or e-mail addresses, please do not use these unless you know the actual officer you are contacting is dealing with your consignment as we operate a rota system to cover the airport and messages sent to officers who are not covering the airport who may not be in the office and this could lead to delays in clearing consignments.
