Markets Casual trading at the Sunday Market

We offer spaces where anyone over 18 years can trade each Sunday at New Smithfield Market. To trade you must comply with our service standards.

You don't need to book in advance or apply for a licence. Just turn up and join the queue at the back of the market. Spaces are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis from 6am. Gates open from 3am, which are situated on Whitworth Street East off Ashton Old Road. You can trade from 7am up until 2pm. Space fees must be paid on demand by debit or credit card. We do not take cash or cheque. 

  • To sell fresh meat, fresh fish, or vended food like ice cream or burgers you must be a regular trader; this isn't allowed on a casual basis. Tinned or packaged food is ok.
  • The sale of tobacco, nicotine, or anything related to tobacco or nicotine including e-cigs and vapes is prohibited at the Sunday Market and Car Boot. 
  • There are some things that you cannot sell on any of our markets

There are opportunities for regular trading at the Sunday Market.
