Marriage ceremonies at the Manchester Register Office
Before you can get married you must give a notice of marriage.
Ceremonies at the Manchester Register Office are held in the Pankhurst Suite, in Heron House.
There is a large ceremony room at the Pankhurst Suite (up to 70 guests), a large waiting area for guests and a small private waiting room for the use of the couple.
Two witnesses are required. They can be anybody, including family members, but must both be over the age of 16, speak English and understand what is taking place.
For a basic ceremony, with just two witnesses and no guests, there are some times during the week when the Pankhurst Suite can be booked at a lower fee, but availability is limited (see Standard Ceremony fees information).
The Pankhurst Suite is very popular as a marriage venue, particularly in the summer, so we allow you to provisionally book your ceremony here up to 24 months in advance. This will allow you to make your other arrangements knowing that the time and venue for your ceremony has been fixed.
To book your ceremony in the Pankhurst Suite, please contact us by email to registeroffice@manchester.gov.uk it would be helpful if you could provide the following information when you make your initial enquiry:
The venue you would like to hold your ceremony in, the nationality of both parties, your home addresses, dates of birth for both of you, whether either of you have been married or in a Civil Partnership before and if so how this ended for example divorced or widowed, your full names, a contact telephone number and your email address.
You will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £40 when you book.
